Errol Pierre (Peter) Callier

Early life 

Errol Pierre Callier was born at Norwood on 6 May 1902.  He was universally known as Peter.  He was educated at the Norwood Public School and Norwood High School.  Of Swiss-French stock, his paternal grandfather was an early colonist of South Australia.  

Career

On leaving school, he joined the staff of Motor Parts and Services Ltd, which eventually became City Supplies Ltd, an adjunct of City Motors Ltd.  Eventually Peter Callier became Managing Director of City Motors.  He was reputed for honest dealing and his kindly and sympathetic interest in the junior members of his staff.

Peter Callier married the renowned musician Jessica Dix in 1947.  He was enthusiastic at bowls and golf, and an accomplished pianist.   

Masonic Career

Bro. EP Callier was initiated in Goodwood Lodge No. 107 on 2 September 1925 and was foundation Senior Warden of the Lewis Lodge of Goodwood No. 173 in 1948.  He became Master of the latter Lodge in 1949.  

Bro. Callier served the Grand Lodge in various capacities, including:

1959      VW Grand Director of Ceremonies
1960      RW Senior Grand Warden
1968-70 Vice-President of the Board of General Purposes
In 1968 he was conferred with the rank of RW Past Deputy Grand Master.  

He served as Pro Grand Master during the Grand Mastership of MW Bro. Hon. Mr Justice Zelling from 1972 and died in office on 17 June 1974.
